Facebook, Again

Like most of society I'm on Facebook. It's a love/hate relationship. Love because it is fun keeping up with family and friends, sharing pictures and keeping up with what's going on with them as well as keeping up with the current national buzz. Whatever.

The thing that gets me is sharing other people's photos. Not pics from family and friends, but those puzzle pics or viral pics or silly saying pics; you know what I'm talking about.

Today I see my mother has commented on a photo. It is one of those viral photos with a gazillion likes, shares, and comments. Can I read her comment? No. Well, that's a lie. I can if I choose to scroll through hundreds of thousands of comments to find hers. Can I give her my opinion on the photo? Well, I can comment but it will get lost in the sea of comments and it is highly doubtful she will see it.

What is the point of sharing a photo like that if you can't get the reactions of your family and friends on it? Why share it to your wall if you can't start a discussion there about it?

Well, there is a way but most people don't do it because it is much easier to click the Share button.

If Facebook is supposed to get us interacting with our friends and family in any sort of meaningful way, why can't we have comments on their wall directly under a puzzle picture where we can gloat that we are smarter than they are? What's the point of that?

Wait. Maybe it's time to ditch Facebook and just invite my friends and family over to read my blog and comment. There's an idea.
